How It Operates

The case is being investigated by criminologists, criminal behavior analysts and scientists of all specialties.

The Crime Lab – What It Is

The Crime Lab is the first scientific crime laboratory in Greece, founded by Manolis Sfakianakis, a Special Investigator – Cybercrime Analyst. For the first time, it brings together criminologists, criminal behavior analysts, and scientists from all specialties, whose expertise will support the valuable work of judicial and police authorities to ensure that the truth is proven with evidence when a crime occurs.

This is a global innovation that serves the defense of both the perpetrator and the victim.

The Crime Lab – How It Operates

You contact our laboratory and present your reasons for approaching us to a criminologist, providing all relevant case details.

Immediately, the criminologist and their team investigate the case, drafting a brief history that is electronically forwarded to the laboratories deemed necessary to participate in issuing scientific reports.

Subsequently, and on a date set by the chief criminologist of THE CRIME LAB, a teleconference will be held involving:

  • Participating scientists and experts initially designated to contribute their expertise.
  • Representatives from the laboratory, appointed as needed (e.g., in a criminal investigation, a criminologist and a police officer with relevant experience will participate).
  • Clients, attorneys, and parties involved.

After the teleconference, instructions are given to the respective laboratories along with the necessary materials to perform scientific work to prove the truth through their expert reports.

Within a reasonable timeframe, the reports are delivered, interpreted to the clients – parties involved, to be submitted to the court, allowing judges to form their decisions based on thorough scientific research rather than groundless speculations.

The Crime Lab – What Innovative Services It Offers

  • Access from anywhere in the world, 24/7.
  • Case analysis and documentation by criminologists, in collaboration with legal professionals, who work with experts possessing specialized knowledge, experience, and international stature to substantiate conclusions through scientific expert reports.
  • Most of the evidence is documented through scientific research, not mere theories.
  • Simultaneous involvement of all parties in a trial before it takes place, in real time.
  • For the first time, any legal professional, along with their client or clients, whether located in Athens, Grevena, London, or New York, can connect in real time and communicate face-to-face at a virtual communication and technology table with criminologists and experts, providing solutions and scientific tools – expert reports – for the case under investigation.
  • For the first time, a party involved in a trial can find a multipurpose tool that includes everything needed to prove their claims without having to search across the country for evidence and experts. The evidence of a criminal act is substantiated through the scientific knowledge of the laboratories.
  • Gathering a team of 14 scientific laboratories, which the investigator of a criminal act can mobilize and use their knowledge to form a court’s conviction through one or multiple expert reports.
  • For the first time, anyone concerned or who has suffered a criminal behavior against them can immediately access a consultation through hybrid and non-hybrid systems for appointments with Crime Analysts.
  • Now everyone – legal professionals, prosecutors, lawyers, police officers, and citizens living in Greece and abroad – will know that crime laboratories are not only operated by the Hellenic Police, which performs valuable work daily, often overwhelmed by the sheer number of cases referred by various agencies because they are the only available resources. There is now THE CRIME LAB – a private entity. In other neighboring European countries, there are far more private than public laboratories, which mainly handle very serious cases.
  • The establishment of THE CRIME LAB significantly accelerates judicial decisions by reducing the time required for laboratory research and results.
  • Finally, for the first time in our country, the role of the criminologist is highlighted, and job opportunities are created for new scientists. We hope that our idea will inspire others in the field (Police, Justice, etc.), offering new job opportunities to those who already hold degrees and to those aspiring to enter this profession.
